I'm Sophia – author, storyteller, nature lover, creative worker. I love the sea, animals, old houses, new ideas – and the power of stories when they come from the heart.
Born in Stuttgart , I studied history in Hamburg . Afterward, I moved to Ibiza , where I took over the small bookstore Libro Azul – a place for books and encounters. There, my love for writing and the connection between creativity and nature deepened.
My first children’s book, “KIO, the little big seahorse,” was created together with my school friend and illustrator Jan Anderson .
KIO is a brave seahorse girl who goes her own way – with attitude, curiosity and the will to protect the ocean.
The book has been translated into five languages . The second volume has just been published, and the KIO series continues to grow .
KIO is also the mascot of the KIO House of Kids – a creative and sustainable kids club that Jan and I are designing together for the 7Pines Resorts in Ibiza and Sardinia, as well as Roxburghe Castle .
I work there as a change agent , designing programs, content and spaces where children can connect with nature, creativity and themselves.
I am an aunt with heart and soul – a niece, six nephews and four godsons make me incredibly proud.
Although most of them are already teenagers or adults, my stories always belong to them to some extent.
Today I live in a small castle in France with my three dogs . They are my everyday family, loyal companions, and often a source of inspiration.
I'm writing my first novel for adults—a new form of storytelling that means a lot to me.
I've worked extensively in the hotel industry —in a variety of locations and with a wide variety of people. These experiences have given me a keen sense of atmosphere, hospitality, and attitude.
A special project is the book "Two Dogs – A (Christmas) Adventure," which I created together with my niece Rosa . She designed the illustrations with amazing talent, of which I am very proud.
A central anchor in my life is the ocean . I am a passionate diver , and with every underwater encounter, my awe and gratitude grow. This deep connection is one of the reasons why I am committed to protecting the oceans—in my stories, projects, and daily life.
I am also part of the core team of Creatives For The Planet , an environmental organization that uses education, direct action, and artistic means to raise awareness, particularly in Ibiza.
Our motto:
“Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can.”
Anyone who reads my stories gets to know me a little better.
All love,
Sophia
